Riso School: 2 color print

This class is designed for anyone who is interested in printing their own work in our studio. After taking this class, you will hopefully feel independent to rent time on the machine and print by yourself as needed!

We will create a stack of 20 8.5x11 2 color risograph prints using the colors black, fluo pink, yellow, blue, aqua, violet, fluo orange and/or kelly green on our riso sf5130.

You can find color codes and swatches for these colors here!

Class will start with a brief lecture on riso basics and history. We will demonstrate printing from the scanner bed using an analog master, as well as from a computer using a digital master.

After our lecture and demo, you and your classmates will have 1-2 hours of “open studio” to print your own work using the SF5130. Traditional artwork smaller than 9x12, photographs, collages, digital artwork, etc all welcome, you do not have to be a digital artist or create a masterpiece to learn riso ~! You do not have to be a graphic artists to riso print, you can bring a flat image inspired by riso colors or a grayscale image you’d like the experiment with. You can learn more here if you need help before class, but feel free to send files over early for review.

Please bring your laptop, iPad, sketchbook, and snacks if you wish. Please bring finished work to class to print as you will have a limited amount of time to prep work for printing.
